WhatsApp Launches New Disappearing message Feature
Ever wondered, What if WhatsApp failed to provide the “ search option” feature. What would happen, if we have to find an important message from the endless messages within the chat. Though we have a search option to find them. WhatsApp owned by Facebook has come up with a brand new “disappearing message” feature, which might facilitate in vanishing the clutter of messages in bulk.
In brief, the feature will enable WhatsApp users to modify disappearing messages on chat conversations between friends, to automatically delete messages after seven days. Hence, anyone can modify the option in individual chats, and group admins will be able to enable disappearing messages in group chats.
“We’re starting with 7 days because we expect it offers peace of mind that conversations aren’t permanent while remaining practical so you don’t forget what you were chatting about,” says a WhatsApp spokesperson. “The shopping list or store address you received a couple of days ago are going to be there while you need it, and then disappear after you don’t.”
WhatsApp tweeted from its official handle. “We’ve created it simple to review, bulk delete items, and release space. This new storage management tool can be found in Settings > Storage and Data > Manage Storage”. WhatsApp also shared a video of how the feature will work.
You’ll be able to flip the setting on and off. So you will still find important information that you’ve sent or received. And you can keep a grasp on heartwarming messages from friends and family.
Messages will only start disappearing after you turn on the setting. Also, the ones already on your phone will not go anywhere.
In case it is a chat between you and somebody else, either one among you can make messages disappear. In a group chat, only the admin can have the access to make messages evaporate.
Users will get separate sections that will show the space taken up by forwarded messages that are larger than 5MB. This would make it easier for users to get rid of absolutely unnecessary stuff. Users can remove space files, media, and even messages by tapping on the select all option.
However, a user must keep in mind that the media that they’re deleting from their app would stay on their phones.
Disappearing messages will be available in your WhatsApp sometime this month.
